We are seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer Level III or higher to join our IT team at a prestigious Oklahoma law firm with over 200+ employees. This role focuses on managing and maintaining our fully virtualized cloud environment, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Azure, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), cloud server management, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of professional IT experience. Including 5 years of hands-on cloud experience and excel in a stable, steady-state environment, ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient IT solutions to support our legal professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Azure Cloud Management: Administer and maintain Azure-based infrastructure, including Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments, to ensure consistent availability, performance, and security for a fully virtualized workforce.
Cloud Server Management: Manage and optimize cloud servers, including virtual machines, storage, and networking components, to support critical law firm applications and workflows.
Active Directory Administration: Maintain and secure on-premises and Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) environments, including user provisioning, group policies, and single sign-on (SSO) integrations.
Microsoft 365 Administration: Manage Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive, ensuring reliable collaboration and compliance with legal industry standards.
Virtualized Environment Support: Support and troubleshoot a fully virtualized environment, ensuring consistent performance for remote and hybrid work scenarios.
Security and Compliance: Apply security best practices, including identity management, data protection, and compliance with legal industry regulations (e.g., GLBA, FTC Act, ECPA, GDPR, HIPAA).
Automation and Scripting: Use scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Azure CLI) to automate routine tasks and enhance operational efficiency.
Disaster Recovery and Backup: Maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity and data integrity.
Collaboration and Support: Work with IT team members and third-party vendors to provide Tier 3 support, resolve issues, and deliver training to end-users as needed.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of systems, processes, and configurations, and provide periodic reports on system performance and incidents.
Required Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of professional IT experience with at least 5 years in cloud engineering, and at least 3 years focused on Microsoft Azure.
Azure Expertise: Demonstrated experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Azure VMs, Azure Networking, and Azure Security Center.
Cloud Server Management: Strong skills in managing cloud-based servers, including configuration, monitoring, and optimization.
Active Directory: In-depth knowledge of on-premises Active Directory and Azure AD, including hybrid identity management and conditional access policies.
Microsoft 365: Extensive experience administering Microsoft 365 services, including email, collaboration tools, and security features.
Virtualization: Hands-on experience working in fully virtualized environments, with familiarity with hypervisors (e.g., Hyper-V, VMware) and virtual desktop infrastructure.
Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in PowerShell, Azure CLI, or similar scripting languages for automation and configuration management.
Security and Compliance: Knowledge of cloud security best practices and legal industry compliance requirements.
Hardware Competency: Experience with thin client hardware and a broad range of BYOD devices would be a plus.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve technical issues in a virtualized environment.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
College Education: A bachelor's degree or higher is preferred for this position, with special preference for a technology-related field such as Computer Science—network engineering, Information Technology—cybersecurity, Information Technology—cloud computing, Management Information Systems, or Software Engineering.
Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Expert, Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, or equivalent.
Legal Industry Experience: Familiarity with IT requirements in a law firm or professional services environment.
DevOps Knowledge: Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using ARM templates or Terraform, and Azure DevOps.
Project Management: Ability to contribute to small-scale IT projects, such as system upgrades or cloud optimizations.
Work Environment
Location: In-office work (Oklahoma City or Tulsa) is preferred, but a remote work location is a possibility based on skills and experience. The position will support a virtualized environment for a law firm with 200+ employees.
Collaboration Tools: Use of Microsoft Teams, Azure DevOps, SAAS Ticketing system and other cloud-based tools for team communication and project management.
Schedule: Full-time, with occasional after-hours support for critical incidents or planned maintenance in a stable, steady-state environment. On-call rotation for after-hours and weekend support is also required.
