Position Summary
SR1 EdTech is seeking a Full-Stack Systems Developer with expertise in education technology, AI integration, and data-driven learning platforms. The ideal candidate will design and implement a scalable system that supports our College Preparatory and STEM Access & Success Program. This role requires experience in both front-end and back-end development, AI-powered adaptive learning systems, and cloud-based platforms.
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, self-driven software engineer with a passion for bridging education gaps in underserved and rural communities. This is a rare opportunity to develop innovative education technology that directly impacts student success.
Key Responsibilities
System Development & AI Integration
• Develop an AI-powered, adaptive learning system that personalizes content based on student progress.
• Integrate predictive analytics to monitor student performance and suggest interventions.
• Implement accessibility features, including text-to-speech, translation, and alternative learning formats.
• Incorporate gamification elements such as leaderboards, achievements, and interactive challenges.
Full-Stack Development (Front-End & Back-End)
• Design and build a responsive, user-friendly Learning Management System (LMS).
• Develop scalable APIs to support real-time learning, tracking, and reporting.
• Ensure smooth integration between front-end components (React, Vue.js, or Angular) and back-end architecture (Node.js, Python, Django, or Flask).
• Optimize database performance using PostgreSQL, Firebase, MongoDB, or MySQL.
• Develop authentication and user management systems with OAuth, JWT, and role-based access control.
Cloud & DevOps Implementation
• Deploy and manage scalable cloud-based learning platforms on AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Set up CI/CD pipelines to automate deployments and updates.
• Ensure compliance with education privacy regulations (FERPA, COPPA, GDPR).
• Utilize Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and microservices architecture.
Workforce Development & Career Readiness
• Develop a micro-credentialing system issuing certifications in STEM, entrepreneurship, and vocational training.
• Integrate AI-powered career counseling tools for job placement and internship matching.
• Implement a tracking system to connect students with employers and career resources.
Third-Party Integrations & API Development
• Integrate the platform with external tools such as video conferencing (Zoom, Google Meet).
• Develop API connections for financial literacy tools, college prep resources, and university admissions portals.
• Ensure seamless interoperability with partner institutions and corporate sponsors.
Security & Compliance
• Implement strong security protocols for student data protection and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Monitor and optimize system performance to ensure uptime and reliability.
• Develop contingency plans for cybersecurity risks and breaches.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Expertise
• Full-Stack Development: Experience with both front-end and back-end technologies.
• Front-End: Strong knowledge of React, Vue.js, Angular, or similar JavaScript frameworks.
• Back-End: Expertise in Node.js, Python (Django/Flask), or Ruby on Rails.
• Database Management: Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Firebase, MongoDB, or MySQL.
• Cloud Computing: Experience deploying applications on AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• AI & Machine Learning: Hands-on experience with OpenAI API, TensorFlow, AWS SageMaker, or similar technologies.
• LMS Development: Prior experience building or customizing learning management systems.
• Gamification & UX Design: Experience designing interactive and engaging learning environments.
• API Development: Ability to develop and integrate RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Security & Compliance: Understanding of FERPA, COPPA, and GDPR compliance for education data privacy.
Education & Experience
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Education Technology, AI, or related fields.
• 5+ years of experience in software development, ed-tech, or AI-driven learning platforms.
• Proven track record of building scalable, AI-powered education platforms.
• Experience working with education organizations, universities, or K-12 programs is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with rural or underserved communities.
• Background in college admissions, STEM education, or career counseling systems.
• Understanding of Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), Common Core, and ISTE standards.
• Experience with AI-driven learning models and personalized education platforms.
• Prior leadership or mentoring experience in an education-focused development team.
