Job Description

Job Title: Superintendent - Correctional Facilities (Jail/Prison)

Location: Manatee County, FL

Salary: Open to negotiation based on experience

Employment Type: Full-Time

We are seeking a Superintendent with extensive experience in managing the construction, renovation, or maintenance of jails, prisons, and other correctional facilities. This role will focus on overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of these specialized projects, ensuring they adhere to budget, timeline, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in correctional facilities, and will demonstrate strong leadership and project management skills to ensure safety, compliance, and quality in every phase of the project.

Responsibilities

  • Project Oversight: Supervise all phases of construction for correctional facilities, from pre-construction through completion.
  • Site Management: Directly manage day-to-day activities on the job site, ensuring projects are on track and meet safety standards.
  • Budget & Schedule Management: Monitor project budgets, timelines, and resources, ensuring projects stay within scope and are completed on time.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with architects, contractors, subcontractors, and government agencies to ensure the project meets all requirements and regulations.
  • Compliance & Regulations: Ensure all work complies with local building codes, safety standards, and correctional facility regulations.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and coordinate construction teams, providing direction, support, and problem-solving when issues arise.
  • Quality Control: Oversee quality assurance to maintain high standards of construction and safety on-site.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years managing construction projects. Correction facilities experience is a must.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Proven ability to manage complex projects under tight deadlines. Familiar with correctional facility safety standards and regulations.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
